Hugh Dancy also delivers a great character study, making Will Graham seem as cohesive yet righteously complex as Lecter himself. My respect for Mads Mikkelsen in particular is now boundless - I never imagined something better than Anthony Hopkin's portrayal of Lecter could exist, and yet Mads Mikkelsen makes that performance feel like child's play. The casting, the acting, the screenplay are exactly the best case scenario for a series. I feel compelled to sing the praises of this show, which is complicated because it left me feeling speechless.
There is no acknowledgement, even if charges were dropped, however unlikely it is, due to their injuries sustained from Hannibal. S2/S3 SPOILERS: My only complaint: I didn't feel the charges brought up against Will and Jack were resolved at all. Even the adaptation of all 3 novels just fit so well I didn't mind Starling being written out (Foster > Moore), although I hope they maybe write her into season 4.speaking of which, talks have begun since the rights just reverted back in August 2017. I didn't think it possible-since I also am just a huge Hopkins fan in general-but Mikkelson blew Hopkins' portrayal out of the water! Everything about it is superb: acting, character development, cinematography, pacing, soundtrack, editing, writing, just everything. While I thought the sequel was okay and I enjoyed the prequel (partially because of bias towards its crazy amazing all-star cast), Hopkins was still great in both.
I've really loved Hopkin's rendition of Hannibal since I first saw Silence of the Lambs.
